1. Overview & Scope
Yap-a-Thon ("we", "us", "our", or the "Service") provides livestreaming gamification tools, speech-to-text counters, and broadcast overlay services for content creators. This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled when you access our website, use our software, connect your streaming platforms, or purchase creator tier access.
By using Yap-a-Thon, you acknowledge and agree to the data collection and usage practices described herein. If you do not agree with this policy, your sole and exclusive recourse is to discontinue using the Service immediately.
2. Audio & Speech-to-Text Processing
We respect your privacy and microphone data:
- Standard Free Tier: Microphone recognition is processed entirely client-side inside your browser via standard Web Speech APIs. No raw audio streams, microphone recordings, or voice transcripts are transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Creator Tier: When high-accuracy cloud speech models or server-side speech recognition are utilized, audio fragments are processed transiently in real time solely to calculate word counts and detect taboo words. Audio data is discarded immediately after word count computation and is never sold, archived, or used for machine learning training.
3. Account & Authentication Data
You can use core features of Yap-a-Thon without creating an account. When you register for an account (e.g., to manage Creator tier access, cloud overlays, or billing), authentication is securely handled via Supabase. We collect your email address, encrypted authentication tokens, and user ID solely to maintain your account session, verify tier entitlements, and secure your settings.
4. Payments, Billing & Stripe
All monetary transactions, including purchases of the 24-Hour Event Pass ($5.99) and Creator Monthly Subscriptions ($9.99/mo), are processed directly by our third-party payment partner, Stripe, Inc.
We do not collect, process, or store your credit card numbers, debit card details, CVV codes, or full billing addresses on our servers. Stripe handles all sensitive financial information in compliance with PCI-DSS security standards. We receive only non-sensitive transaction tokens, customer IDs, and subscription status flags to grant you Creator tier access.
5. Streaming Platform Integrations
Yap-a-Thon interfaces with third-party streaming platforms (including Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Streamlabs, and StreamElements) to detect broadcast events such as subscriptions, gift bombs, bits, tips, and follow notifications:
- Connections to Twitch chat utilize public read-only IRC channels. We do not request or store your Twitch passwords or private channel data.
- Third-party donation webhooks (e.g., Streamlabs, StreamElements) provide event metadata (e.g., tip amount and donor username) strictly for the purpose of adjusting your stream's live word goal.
6. Affiliate & Referral Tracking
If you participate in or interact with the Yap-a-Thon Affiliate Program, referral codes, tracking cookies, and conversion timestamps are recorded to accurately calculate and attribute referral commissions. This information is used strictly for program administration, payout calculation, and fraud prevention.
7. Local Storage & Browser Cookies
To provide instant persistence without requiring a server login, your stream goals, custom word values, taboo word lists, audio buzzer settings, and overlay design preferences are stored locally on your device via your browser's localStorage. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings or the dashboard reset button.
8. Limitation of Liability & Third Parties
Yap-a-Thon is not responsible for the privacy practices, uptime, or data collection policies of third-party platforms, including Stripe, Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Streamlabs, or Supabase. Any external links or platform integrations are subject to the respective third parties' policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to revise, modify, or update this Privacy Policy at our discretion at any time. Any revisions will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your binding acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Contact Information
